620.9 (B) (3) Transfer by Inheritance
The U.S. Copyright Office will accept a transfer statement that clearly states that the copyright was transferred to the claimant by will or by the applicable laws of intestate succession.
Examples:
• By descent.
• By inheritance.
• By intestate succession.
• By will.
• Heir of author.
• Heir under state law.
• Sole distributee of author who died intestate.
