A legal publication is a work that contains, analyzes, annotates, summarizes, or comments upon legislative enactments, judicial decisions, executive orders, administrative regulations, or other edicts of government. See Chapter 700, Section 717.1. These types of works may be literary monographs or serials.
To register an unpublished legal publication, applicants should submit one complete copy of the work. To register a published legal publication, applicants should submit two complete copies of the best edition of the work. See 37 C.F.R. § 202.20 (C) (1) (I), (C) (1)(iii).
